Is my blushing white skirt tetra pregnant?

Hey everyone,

Recently I noticed that one of my white skirt tetras has become very wide. It is a clear fish and inside I can see TONS of cream colored dots inside, looks like sand or something. Is this pregnancy :) or a disease :(

Thanks!

In a previous post, I explained that egglayers and egg scatters do not become pregnant, they become gravid. The reason, I would imagine, is that we think of pregnancy as being internally fertilized. Egglayers have the eggs fertilized after the eggs are released by the female. Hence the difference. And yes, I believe your tetra may be gravid.

would you want the fish do breed? i have many helpful hints to having fry

The first rule of Fight Club is - you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is - you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club, someone yells Stop!, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule, only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule, one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule, no shirt, no shoes. Seventh rule, fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule, if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Did this fish end up laying eggs? I have one that is filled with these cream colored dots!! And another one that is starting to get them!! It is kinda freaky when you lok at them because it looks like some of their organs are being displaced!

I am just wondering if your fish laid eggs or if it was a disease......

Gravid Blushing White Tetra

I have four white tetras in my 50 gallon tank. Recently I noticed that 1 of them is really wide and has cream colored dots INSIDE her body behind her blushing spot and above her anal fin (not sure if this is the correct anatomical name or not). I have a second one that is starting to develop this also and was just worried that it might not be eggs developing (there has to be hundreds of them!!!) and might be something more serious. This fish is acting no different and eats heartily at each feeding.

This topic is 5 years old, don't think you'll get your answers from it

That would make sense. Haven't you heard? We make yogurt, not sense.
