Okay, so at work we got a shipment of "Silver Dollars" but they didn't look like our normal silvers, and my manager thought they were piranhas. At first I thought they were spotted silver dollars, but I've never seen the babies so I don't know what they look like. They're body shape is different than the silver dollars I'm used to, and another associate thinks they're baby pacus. I was pretty sure of the spotter silvers, but now that everyone else thinks they're something else I'm not too sure.
Sorry for the picture quality, snuck a cell picture at work.
Its very hard to tell from those photos, but also because both pacu and silver dollars go through various color changes as they mature from juvies. My first guess upon looking at them would be pacu, especially because of the spotting. If you look at juvenile silver dollars they tend to be a bit rounder in shape than the pacu... pacu are slightly longer in body shape. Sometimes you just have to wait until they develop a bit more before you can be sure.
