Are Emperor tetras nippy fishes?

I'm recently saw them at my LFS and wow...they are just superb. I am currently in the process of stocking my 33 gallons and did some researches but although most fish ressources tag them as peaceful, a few also advice to keep them away from fishes with long fins, as since I plan to add a few male guppies in my tank, I'm concerned they could end up being de-finned. Anyone has experience with these fishes and could set me straight?
