Thumbs up Babieeeeesss

My Pristellas had babies! I am so excited. I have only found one baby, but it looks great. She/he is only 1/2 an inch long, but looks just like her parents.
I can't imagine how it managed to live. The day before I found her, I did a 50% water change, thorough vacuuming, cleaning of all equipment and trimming of some plants. Yea.

Congratulations.

Here's another benefit of a planted tank: fry will sometimes survive. The plants protect the eggs and fry when they hatch, and the fry can find some natural plankton and microscopic food among the plants. Usually it is only one or maybe two that do manage to survive, but it is indeed rewarding when you see them.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

Thanks Byron, I felt so proud of my tank. I figured that if the fish felt comfortable enough to have babies
the parameters of the tank must be pretty good. I haven't finished planting the tank either. Yippee, I AM
a proud grannie, lol.
