Will a BNP die without driftwood?

I recently bought my first bristle nose pleco two days ago. The pet store didn't have any driftwood for his care so i searched the internet for some driftwood. I read that they have to have driftwood to munch on for digestion so i ordered a piece of mopani drift wood online. the piece will not be in for six days. There is plenty of algae for him as well as the occasional cucumber or peas during the night.

Will he be ok until the driftwood comes in. I plan on boiling it for an hour, cool down and put it in. i'm not worried about the tea color or anything. I just want to get it in as soon as possible. If you think all will be good ill probably soak it for a day or two i just want him to be happy.

I think the fish will be ok for a week. I have collected driftwood from lakes and rivers and then boiled the %*!#@ out of it and had no issues. But some wood ,depending on where it came from,,, could have absorbed all kinds of fertilizers, pesticides etc.So I can't recommend that you do it. Just some food for thought

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.
