I'm betting it's either an albino that's been eating lots of carrots, or maybe a super red that hasn't. Both are the 'ol bristlenose plec: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus • Loricariidae • Cat-eLog

I bought a mature female bristlenose that was in the plant tank at my LFS. No one even knew she was in there. I asked if I could have her, I was told no. The next week we went back and I asked for a female bristlenose. The guys there said "why a female" to which I responded "I like their look, without bristles" and instead of sexing the tank of juveniles they just sold me her.

tl:dr Female bristlenose don't have bristles :)

As of 02/02/14: 5.5 Gallon NPT - Plat ----------------29 gallon - Awaiting bleach bombing and selling
46 gallon bow - 5 glass cats, 6 kuhlii loaches, 2 rasboras, 1 parkinsoni rainbow, 8 White Tip Tetras, 1 bristlenose pleco, 5 julii corydoras, 1 bolivian ram, 7 neon tetras , 2 female sunset gouramis, 10 dainty corydoras, shrimp and snails

Some Female bristlenose have no bristles,and some females will sport a few short bristles around the mouth, but not as extensive, or as high up on the forehead, as the males of this species.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.
