What to feed strped catfish

Hi I just purchased a striped catfish he is still very small, the guy at the petshop said he will feed on algae and flakes of food that make it to the bottom. So far I cannot tell if he eats anything or not. Do I need to buy any special foods for this type of fish? Thanks

I feed my pictus cats sinking wafers, sinking carnivore pellets, sinking algae wafers, basically any food that sinks. For the most part cats are nocturnal feeders so I drop the cat food in at night after I turn off the lights.

Are you talking about a striped raphael catfish? If so, the foods aunt kymmie listed are pretty much perfect. Raphaels are also nocturnal so you might want to try the method she talked about.

If it's some other sort of fish (maybe some sort of pleco?) they might have different dietary needs.

Nothing new, just confirmation. I feed algae and tetramin tablets, he goes crazy for both. Also, he goes after snails. In fact, I think that's his preference.

If you're worried about seeing him, buy a lunar light. Nothing too bright. Then just camp out in front of your tank at night and be vewy vewy quiet.

And motionless, I would add....

My striped raphael goes out to feed also in the mornings.... I guess it's a matter of establishing a feeding routine... They get used to it eventually....
