Weird behavior in one of my corydoras after adding new ornament.

I just recently set up a new tank for my Corydoras and Tetras. I added in a human skull ornament to give my corydoras a bigger hiding spot and possibly something for the tetras to play in.

Over the past few days, my corydoras, have discovered it's functionality as a hiding/playing spot. My boyfriend just told me recently that our oldest Cory, Creepy, who is probably just somewhere over 6 months, has been hanging out in the inside of the skull, upside down near the top (he's still swimming) for about an hour.

It seems like the outside of the skull is attracting what looks like a whitish colored algae. Is it possible that the inside may be covered with the same stuff and my cory is going nuts over the new snack or could this be a sign of serious illness.
