All you folks with your fancy plecos -- what size tanks are you keeping them in? How many plecs to a tank? What are good tank mates for plecs? Can plecos be mixed well amongst their kind? Does size matter (when keeping multiple pleco species together)?

Dude, that is pretty variable.

Tanks sizes range from 20gal (for like a bn or clown pleco) to over 200gal for a sailfin and some panaques.

It really depends on how big the SL of the fish is.

How many to a tank, also depends.
Some species are very agressive (such as a sailfin, or also known as a gibby), therefore not many can be kept in one tank.

And it depends on the different L's diet, some are all carnivores, some are all herbivores, some need both, panaques can survive very well on wood all by itself.

Plus it depends on how many hiding spots you have, they need there space, and territory markers.

Size and keeping them together, well a 3" fish is not going to bother a 20" fish that much.

Tank mates, again depends on the diet, how agressive the fsh you are keeping them with ect ect.

Discus, Angelfish, And Goldfish, are not suppose to mix well at all, but I have kept the latter of the three with plecs and had no problems.

Hope this helps alittle, but your question was pretty broad.

Thanks,
Claude

Claude has nailed it right there for the overview.

One thing i'd add is that most of the tanks you will see with a lot of plecos should be really heavily filtered due to the MASSIVE amount of poop they produce so tankmates need to be able to deal with a lot of current.
