YIKES! Good job I didn't manage then. I used a tub with my pictus (RIP Ceasar) but that was because I knew of the "spines". I didn't know synos were the same. I'll def keep this in mind - thanks!

Catching my 6"+ Catfish

To catch my catfish I remove anything from the tank that can hurt him, remove 2/3 of the water and scoop him up in a rectangular tupperware
container once he is trapped against the side of the tank. The lid of the container is ready to cover him during transport.

Gosh! This is an old thread.

I tried the tupperwear effort, with everything removed from the tank but she was so quick and panicked so easily that I ended up rearanging everything else in the 2 tanks, so that she could stay where she was, and she is there today, quite smug and pleased with herself over the whole affair.

My 3 year old did it best...in the morning when the fish is sleeping, attached to the piece of wood, just lift the wood up slowly and let him drift into the tupperware container. Of course that's not what my son did..he pulled the wood up and pet Plecky's belly while I was diving for the couch to get the fish back in the water and the baby away from the tank!! Plecky didn't freak until he saw me diving at the tank which is why he is my son's fav fish. Ever seen a pleco swim up to the glass almost to say hi to you? Plecky does it when my son comes in the room!
