Striped Raphael Catfish

I recently bought a 4" striped raphael catfish who looks awesome when he comes out. The one I bought was the first one I had ever seen. Now, one of the petshops in town has one that looks fully grown (about 8"). Does anyone know if these fish are territorial toward one another? I read that they should be in a tank with fish bigger then them, does anyone have any experiences with this? (The 8" cat is in a tank with fish that are much larger (12" irridecent sharks and a giant butterfly koi). Does anyone have experience reintroducing these fish into tanks with smaller fish?

Thanks!!

I am hopeful that you are keeping the fish listed in larger than 62 gallon tank. Even 75 gal would be crowded as these fish grow larger.
The raphael catfish is best kept one to a tank, they are peaceful with nearly all fishes except other raphael's in my expieriences with them.(will eat small fish if they can)
Royal pleco will also become quite territorial with other plecos and or catfish like the raphael as well as the clown loaches. (can be violent)
Raphael, pleco, clown loaches, all need excellent water conditions, oxygen rich water, and moderate current.Plants that would work best would be artificial for the fish you list are very good at rooting around in substrate while foraging for food and this would make keeping live plants rooted, quite difficult unless live plants were of floating type. Koi are also quite fond of eating plant's and or plant material.
Filter for a tank holding these fish, should in my view be filtering six to eight times the volume of water the tank holds each hour ,example.. 60 x 8 = 480 gal. per hour. or 75 x 8 =600 gal per hour.
Water changes would in my view, need to be twice weekly with 40 to 50 percent of the old water being replaced with fresh dechlorinated water of close to same temp as that in the tank.
Would also provide numerous places for these fish to establish their own territory. Rocks and wood would be in large quanity so that not all fish are forced to squabble over one or two resting areas.
I would as mentioned, not place two raphael catfish in tank, nor would I add anymore fish to your tank considering the troubles you have been having with water qualty in previous posts. Good Luck.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

Ya i'm looking for another bigger tank when i decide to move out of where i am at the moment. I'm looking to get a 120gal tank when I can. My koi now are small, just 3-4", I plan on keeping the regular pleco in the tank along with the danio's. And ya, I'm always doing R/O water changes for basically as much as I can get out of my R/O system at a time. I have decent water quality now since I got all the little wild minnow's out of the tank.
