You shouldn't lower the temp as the cichlids will then be negatively effected. Just looks like a bad fish mix. If you want catfish look into synodontis cats.
ohh okay. I know some cat fish are good with Africans. at least the 2 types my chiropractor has wont touch the cats. they sort of look like silver sharks. I forget the name. I know there around $17 though.
no not adding any salt but I am having a problem with keeping ph at 8.2. to save from spending $100 at lfs buying their rocks I got my own from my dad. but since I added the rocks and increased water temp it seems like the corys are more active, and look they are on some kind of drug that has them wired up going all over the place real fast.
