Yeah, that's what I thought. They were in a mature tank, everything seems fine (eg no nitrite or ammonia and water very soft). The only thing they probably didn't like was slightly high pH. It was very unexpected.
As to the Cories, I will keep you updated. I am moving house this year at some time, so I am contemplating getting a slightly bigger tank. No bigger tan 4 foot long, but I'd like quite a deep tank, maybe 2 foot deep, so I have more aquaspacing room (ie plants!). ;)
