Hard to sex these fish if smaller than two inches.
Male bristlenose as the name implies will have numerous bristles about the head nose area, while the females will have none at all or very few.
Male rubberlip pleco is usually a bit longer,than the female with longer fins both dorsal and pectoral.
Is said that the longer pectoral fins help cover the eggs that the males of both species protect.
No,, a bristlenose and rubberlip will not reproduce without a male and female of same species.
