i had a rubber lip pleco and it seemed fine at first it was really active and got the job done on the algea then i noticed its belly was looking a little sucked in and it seemed weak the next morning it was dead! i just got a new one and hope the same thing doesn't happen to this one. i feed them algea waffers. any ideas what went wrong with the first one??
and also i just noticed the algea waffers im feeding them are growing some kind of white fungus on the ones that aren't eaten what is it and will it hurt my fish???[/u]

Sounds like they are going mouldy. If you feed him at night before bed, make sure you remove anything uneaten when you get up in the morning. The mould is no use for them to eat, andf rotting food will knock your water params off very quickly.
besides what everyone else has mentioned, you need to feed more than just the wafers to plecos, they will go hungry unless you give them vegetables, mine love cucumber and other similar foods. I don't know about the rubbernose pleco, but it would be a good idea to check into its dietery needs. I must admit for years I didn't know that plecos needed more than fish food to be healthy. hope this helps
