Hi I was wondering if i could have a bristle nose pleco and a rubber lip pleco. I have a 38 gallon tank and quite a nice rock formation... My rubber lip is currently has been around 3 months in my tank... I would love to have both but I dont know any thing about the bristle nose plecos. the plecos would be accompinied by 12 neons 3 kuhli loaches 1 ram and 1 angle fish so far they are working out but sometimes fish just hate each other:-(
I have kept either bristlenose, clown or common plecos and sometimes all three, in every tank I have ever had and never had any problems. When bristlenose males get to sexual maturity they become somewhat territorial, but as long as he has his own cave area I don't see a problem. Rubber lips only get to be about 5in max so they should both have enough space. Maybe someone else has a different experience?
My Rubberlip pleco isn't very friendly with other catfish. My BN is fine with them, however. I think it depends on the personality of the fish. If you try it, keep a close eye on them at first, as plecs are known to be territorial, especially if both are male.
