For all you Whiptail fans, and fans of the rare and very unusual in catfish--you might want to check out a rather unique and very beautiful red whiptail. I recently acquired a trio of these, so I have now added the species to our profiles [ click Rineloricaria sp. L010a]. As noted therein, whether or not this is a natural "wild" species is uncertain. The photo below will whet your appetite:-D.

One of my local stores, Petland actually. In researching for the profile, I spotted them in another store online, out in Abbotsford. I think I came across them years ago in a store but paid no real notice. Keep your eyes peeled; this species is commercially raised so if they are available here they might be available in other places in NA too.

Managed to get a photo of one of mine just now.

Thought I'd share a couple photos from a few moments ago. Two of the "red" trio were beside the older Whiptail, feeding on some tablets. Mr. Bolivian Ram is overseeing the proceedings in the first photo.

Byron, sorry to get off subject, but what is that sand you are using in your tank? Very cool, I love my sand but it shows so much debris.
Ordinary playsand, from Home Depot. Quikrete or something is the brand. It is darker when dry, a sort of gray/tan; looks lighter in the tank. I've grown quite fond of it.
