The thread where it was placed is already very old. As far as the zebra plecos, they are very expensive even if not wild-caught. Who could afford a colony? As far as the plecofanatics are concerned, zebra plecos should be bought only if you plan to breed them to keep the supply of captive-bred ones constant. The wild species have been banned for exports from Brazil due to endangered status.
Unless you do have plans to breed them, please stick with the other pleco species. There are plenty of choices. Just this one species should not be kept without planning to breed them.
