Pleco Eating Tetras

So, finally discovered last night why my anacharis has constantly been getting up-rooted, as well as where my neon tetras have been disappearing to.

After about an hour after turning off my light, I went back into my room to get something and saw my common pleco chasing a Neon Tetra, catch it in the anacharis, then continue to slowly munch on it.

It sucks, but there isn't much I can do about it now. Not sure why he would do this, they stay out of his cave, and he gets fed regularly, 2-4 algae wafers a day, plus the food he finds laying around.

Anyone else ever have an issue you like this? Again, doesnt bug me, just found it surprising, so I thought I would share it.

Common plecos are known to eat random stuff. I suggest you remove it. There are lots of other pleco species which don't get large and are gentler to tankmates. I'd recommend Bristlenose or Red Lizard (aka Red whiptail) plecos.

In my country, common pleco are an invasive species and are considered pests. I've heard a company here grinds them up for use in fertilizer.
