Question Pictus cat not growing...

Hi again, another question for the pro's...I've had a pimelodella pictus catfish for close to 6-7 months now and for some reason he seems to be the same size as when I bought him. He happily lives in a 75 gallon freshwater aquarium along with about 25 other "roomies" including a BGKF, gold nugget pleco, royal pleco, 5 bala sharks, albino rainbow shark, striped raphael catfish, and lots of angelfish. I've had no deaths in the tank for probably 4 months so I know my tank is clean and healthy. I keep the pH at or around 7.0, temp at 78 degrees. I feed twice a day with a mixture of flakes, bottom feeder wafers, and carnivore pellets. I also have plenty of algae (not sure if the pictus go after that). Weirdly enough I have not seen him grow at all and I know he's healthy because I watch him jetting back and forth across the front of the tank at night when the lights are off which is something I know that species loves to do. Did I get one that was just meant to be small or do they grow later in their livespans?

Thanks!

How big is he now? Do you see him eat on a regular basis?

right now he's MAYBE 2-2.5", i would say very close to the size I purchased him at. and he's nocturnal so he's barely out during the day. I see him being very active at night and he's not dead so I know he's eating.

Due to their nocturnal nature and feeding habits perhaps you should drop in a few carnivore pellets near his "cave" or where ever it is he hides during the day, after you turn off the tank lights in the evening. This is how I feed my pictus to ensure he's getting enough food.

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

+ 1

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
