Ottos freaking out when I go near tank.

I have a 44g tank. Whenever I walk by it and look into it, my 2 otto catfish FREAK OUT and dart around and bash into things. I think the tank is pretty well planted. And they have been in there for 3 weeks. I don't like walking near my tank anymore because I feel like I'm stressing them out and am going to kill them. :/ I attached pics.... there's enough plants and such, right?

Otos need to be kept in groups of at least 3 or more maybe increaseing there numbers would help? I have 3 in each of my 20 gallons and have never had them get spooked when I walked up to the tanks.

Kindest Regards,
Amanda

Keeping fish its not a hobby it is a passion!

55 gallon, 44 gallon, one 20 gallon tank, three 10 gallon tanks, and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.

I have MTS and there is no cure.

Hmm, I had 2 in my 29g and one disappeared and I have 1 now and it doesn't get freaked out.

I'm trying to add a 3rd one but they all keep dying when I add them. :/ Ottos are very hard to acclimate it seems to me.

Besides adding more you might try and just sit at the tank for a while until he gets use to your presence but at 3 weeks I would think this would have happened by now. The tank does seem a little open maybe try to add some vals so you have tall plants that might help break up the vision of the outside so it won't be such a surprise when someone walks up also mine seems to love my vals to graze on. I had two otos but one of mine died about 3 weeks ago or so since then my lone one has been doing fine hes just not as playful as when the other was in the tank.

Hmm I have 4 valls in the back that just aren't growing really. ): But maybe once I get my black background it'll help. I guess I'll just see what happens. And move slowly when I get near the tank...
