If dry prepared foods like flakes, pellets, sinking tablets, etc., are growing fungus as you mentioned earlier in this thread, it means too much food is entering the tank. Substrate feeders should be able to handle the food you put in for them in a few hours. Snails are also beneficial here, they will find it. You should never see fungused prepared foods.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

oh I gave them some food that they didn't like and that was forming most of the fungus. For some strange reason there is only about 4 snails left after the hundreds that I had I don't know why. When they started dying I noticed little micro-lifeforms that seemed strange to me. They look like little brown balls and some are just planaria and small worms but still very strange that after having hundreds of snails the population just declined like that.

the fish are fine though but the snail thing was strange. Do you know what those tiny brown balls might be? they are even in the glass.

the Hydra population dropped too.

please watch and share with friends and family.

Photo would help.

What are your water parameters in this tank, meaning hardness and pH?
