Okay so I bought 6 oto cats pets at home (I know but to be fair the bradford one is really looking after it's fish atm and I couldn't find them anywhere else in my area).
So I got them home and poured them into a tub which I placed into a 28l quarantine tank. I then dripped water from my main tank into this tub which then filled the tub and then the tank in around 2 hours. The tank has a filter (fluvel u1 stuck to bottom outlet pointing up lots of surface movement with ceramic rings from main filter), heater, one fake broad leaf plant, two half cut ceramic pots.
I boiled a fat figure slice of courgette/zucchini for two minutes, cooled it down and placed in in the thank held down by a ceramic weight.
The otos have completely ignored the zucchini or sticking to the fake plant. They hid under the pots and filter but are now sticking to the glass.
About an hour (3 hours after I had finished filling the tank which took two hours) one oto completely went crazy dashing around the tank before turning over (guess heart attack)
water para of both tanks
NH3 = 0
Nitrate = 5ppm
So what am I doing wrong. These are the first fish I've done a quarantine tank for and the first fish I've lost. I'm hoping that it was just moving stress but the fact they aren't even looking at the food has me worried.
Any advice would be helpful.
Also I had fry tag along, possibly a molly I have no idea. He's chilling in the quarantine after escaping from my diy fry trap (got through a 1mm drilled hole in the plastic tube I made after finding him). He's floating around quite happy but can I feed him fry food straight into the tank or do I need to get some sort of net/floating fry tub to feed him?
