The references Mr. Todd cites are the best general site references. When I have the option (which I do for catfish), I like to hit a type-specific site too:

Here's the scotcat data sheet: http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/pl...s_costatus.htm

Planet Catfish has a good write up too, but evidently it's a forum, so linking is contrary to board policy. Google is your friend.

i have one, the basics are they're nocturnal so it's a good idea to put some sinking food in at night, they can live for over 20 years, do not catch with a net as it can get caught in all the little barbs on their sides, don't put them in with anything that can fit in their mouths because that's where it'll end up. Also they make noise. They can tolerate a wide range of water temp and ph, they are pigs that gorge themselves too. They aren't aggressive but will have no problem fending off aggressive fish....let's see... watch out for their side fins, if you put your finger along their belly and between their fin they can snap it close like a jack knife and it is serrated and it will cut you. Mine is in with discus and I only see him at feeding time, alot of people get them and never see them. Anyway, that's the basics, which you probably read on those pages but in case i thought of something they didnt mention then great.
