Is Maracyn I and Maracyn II safe for catfish?

Hi all, I just joined and could use some help. I've been wanting to join a fish forum for a while now and thought this was a good time. I'm pretty new to fish keeping so I'm still learning. I have a convict cichlid I need to treat, and I was going to use Maracyn I and Maracyn II in the tank. I have 2 synodontis catfish and a bristlenose in the tank. Someone told me that medications will kill catfish since they don't have scales- is this true? Will Maracyn have bad effects on my catfish or pleco? I don't have anywhere to move my convict to, and though I really need to treat her I need to make sure it's ok for my catfish first.

 Welcome to the forum.

It is true that certain meds. can't be tolerated by "Scaleless" fish, as they can burn their skin. MI & M2 is safe to use and shouldn't harm them. The meds. to stay away from are the ones that contain copper in the ingredients.

Concur, I have used both those meds at the same time, no problem. I have used copper-based meds also in my tank housing pepper and aneus corys, but would certainly say avoid copper if you can. It did alter their activity levels.
