Just got a lacy catfish, any suggestions?

it was in the brackish section of the store and I've got aquarium salt in there. Love that it's kinda inactive but wondering what to feed it specifically.

I am not familiar with this species. The important question... why would you buy a fish which you are not familiar with the husbandry requirements?

Also, Aquarium salt will do nothing for Brackish fish. Aquarium salt is for remedies for ich and the like, and rarely for stress. You need marine salt to raise the salinity/specific gravity.

But, are you sure it is brackish? From the Cats I have seen, Lace's were not in Brackish.

Huh, yeah it's a lace catfish; kinda like a cory with spots. Weird it was in the brackish section but those guys really don't know much about fish. It was a calm acting fish; I just moved, got back into fish and wasn't thinking about requirements. Right now it's kinda not doing too well but I have a submerged filter only doing the aeration, might need more air in there. I just tilted it up so it acts like a waterfall, that should increase the air in the water. Strange the guy gave me aquarium salt for brackish fish.

I have one of these cats in my community tank. It's in with various tetra's, bov cichlid, female guppies, cory's, upsidedown cats etc. At first the cat was very shy but it now comes out in the early evening. I think the LFS where you bought the cat had it in the brasish tank as it can be kept with african cichlids who like the higher ph. It doesn't need salt so I woudn't bother with that. Its a beautiful hardy cat who loves to putter in the sand looking for leftover food. I just love this fish as it has personality plus. Mine likes to hide under a piece of driftwood with my upsidedown cats, so its best to give it a hiding place during the day. Good luck with the cat
