So late morning and now into the afternoon, my False Julii Corydoras are schooling (in every literal meaning of the word) in the tank left to right, right to left. They've never done it this way before. All 8 of them too! Usually I only see a small majority of them on the left side of the tank going up and down, but not today! Not only that, they're always asleep this time of the day!
Do they know it's Christmas? It was quite amazing to see a line of them go across the tank, they're usually a random shoal.
On occasion my largest cory (Rodger) seems to be playing peek-a-boo with my bettas. She (yes Rodger ended up being female) is swimming around a single betta as the betta tries to keep up with her position. It's a funny thing to see.
I did a water change the day before and didn't bother to use warm water. This time of year my tap is pretty cool. Maybe that helped get them in the mood!
Yeah, a big water change with adding colder water is one of the best was to get Cory to breed; from my experience, it take about 36 to 48 hour after the water change.
I just received my gift from my fish today... 2 days late. I came home from work tonight and my Violet Cory/ Smudge Spot Cory/ Corydoras similis (pictured to the left) laid just shy of 50 eggs. This is my first confirmed breeding. I just moved them to a breeding tank.
lol Cories are so cute.
I told you before I only had four, right? Meant to keep five and missed. lol So today I went and got four more, different kind though, posted up a photo because I dunno what they are! I forgot. x.x But now I have eight cories, and all eight are swimming around in a group, all over the place. I took it as a sign they were all very happy in the giant tank, even my emeralds joined them. They're kissing my two big males all over and swimming about(I think they were trying to cheer them up, my boys got depressed when I down-sized, and I did so by too many on accident. Well, fixed that fast as I could!). x)
Nothing quite as fun as sitting around watching your cories dance. I call it dancing. =p
These are three of my new little buddies swimming around the tank. Give us a photo of yours! :3 Or video, video is always good.
