Irrisescent shark catfish

I recently inherited a 55and gallon tank with fish. One fish is his catfish aka irridescent shark. I know nohing about him so need advise. He startles easily and jumpes alot. What should he be eating tha is practical to feed. Tank mates? Thanks for any help

The Iridescent (or Pangassius) shark is one fish that pet stores should not sell. They get HUGE...up to 4 feet in length. They are a schooling fish and have very poor eyesight. That is probably why yours is startled so easily. Here's some info I found. Scroll down to where it says "in the aquarium" for some insight.

They are a schooling catfish and can get way to big for your tank. It's prob skittish cause it is alone.

Thanks for the information. After some research I have found a new home that is better equiped for this fish.
