irridescent shark?

hi, i have an irridescent shark that is about 3 1/2 inches long. he is in a 29 gal community tank and i realize that he will soon outgrow this. i was thinking about selling him and wanted to know what a fair price for him would be (in USD). thanks for any input. [/list]

My LFS gives me 30% of sale price. I would say from $8-15 for someone who wants it depending on your area and the normal price for one.

Your ID shark is Pangasiodon hypophthalmus growing to 4-5 feet. One fish alone will require a tank over 700 gallons.

4'-5' !!!!!!!!!??? The biggest irridescent I have ever seen just barely cleared 3'.

As for selling him back to your lfs, you may get more value if you trade him fo rmore fish or goods. Most lfs's do not really care to "buy" back fish. Now, trading, that is usually a diffrent story.

lupin, i think you are thinking of a different fish ID sharks only get around 18'' normally. anyway i wasnt going to sell him to my lfs. i was thinking of selling him here on the classifieds or somewhere like that. i wanna make sure he goes to a good home. and my lfs might not be the best place for that because when i bought him (i knew very little about him) and they didnt even mention that he would get so big!

2-3 ft is common if they are allowed to grow to full size but larger ones have been recorded. A tank suitable for him is not loikely to be found in a home situation, you may want to consider giving him as a donation to a local public aquarium if they'll take him?

You might want to see a chart. While they don't normally grow to 3 feet, it's still possible.
