Is there something idon't know? I've stopped at several, almost 7, differant lfs over the past week and all they have are albino, skunk or green cories. I'm having a very hard time finding Julii's or Swartz to complete the happy family. Wrong season maybe??

You probably won't find julii's. Most of what the lfs's pas off as julii are C. trilineatus, they look very similar. I would bet that those are what you actually have. Julii, for some reason, command a higher price than many other cories. :dunno:

This the time of year for SA fish. I have no idea why you cannot find any. The albinos are not found in nature and are tank raised. Your lfs is just not getting any of those.

I just had my lfs order my (24) schwartzii. Picking them as soon as I finish purusing the forum. So they are available. Just develope a relationship with your lfs and they should be more than happy to order fish in for you. Paying in advance, or even putting a down payment, REALLY makes them happy.

Want to sent me 5 of those Swartzii?? I only have one and either want more of those or the Julii's. Your right, they are false Juliis but they seem to be my fav cory so far.

what stores have you stopped at? all of the stores i know have cories.

Most of the LFS near me carry bronze cories, green cories, albinos and corydoras paleatus (peppered). Holly is looking for Schwartz or julii which I almost never see.
I can also find almost any store with cories but want to fill out a shoal of corydoras cochui and expect to need to have somebody order them because I never expect to find them locally.

I GOT THEM!!!!!! I stopped at a store that's pretty far away just to see what they have since they get some differant things from time to time. I got 5 baby, maybe the size of a dime!, Swartzii cories. They are so cute! I put them in the tank and after about 10 minutes of hiding, they took over the whole tank! By the feeding time, they had touched every leaf, rock and spot on the sides. The bigger Swartzii came out to find his algea wafers and he found the little guys. It was so funny becasue when Swatzi came out and say them it was almost like he turned around to go get Julii so she could see and play with them also! LOL They are so cute in the tank and they have no fear! They're everywhere today!!! I'm so happy now!!!!

I'll post some pics but they're quick little guys!

my local lfs's all have plenty of green and bronzed cories, but i can't find any more pygmys or habrosus corydoras lately- which led me to think, are there "Seasons" where lfs's have more of a certain kind of fish in stock?

Since many of the corydoras we see in pet shops are collected from the wild, the weather / seasons where they are collected makes collection easier or harder at different times of the year. The ones that never seem to run out and are always available are the ones that are tank bred most often. They are things like albinos that are not found in the wild collections at all. Although the breeding itself can be affected by weather patterns in many fish, they don't actually experience weather in a fish tank. A low pressure system coming through feels the same indoors whether its a thunderstorm or a snow storm so if rains promote breeding in the wild, the breeder can take advantage of what's going on outside.
