i was wondering how you would sex a farswella cat fish? i'm wondering if i have a male or female. as well as i keep putting algea wafers in the tank for it and the other fish are eating it i worry its not getting enough food!!
Farlowella from my expierience, is much like the otocinclus in that they require algae growing in the tank for their long term survival. They do poorly in new tanks for that reason.I kept one for almost a year that would eat algae wafers but I also had considerable algae in the tank. Sadly, while removing some dying sword plant leaves from my tank ,I accidently tossed the farlowella out as well. I have considered getting another but I simply don't have the algae growth needed for the fish to survive.
so far its doing fine, i supplement with zuccini as well, i also have drift wood in the tank too. ive been trying to figure out how to get algea to grow in my tank since im in a basement suite... i hope i'm doing everything right
i'd say i put a slice in and it was basically gone by morning..he's such a beautiful fish i don't want anything to happen to him... he looks fat and healthy so far i just don't want to starve the poor thing
