Bsy:

Frank is the forum's "Expert Extrodinare" for cories but

Frank:

I believe the top 3 in the second photograph are Bondi and would you mind looking at yours.

Hi. Not even close to C. bondi, nor close to C. julii. C. julii are rarely, if ever seen in the trade. They generally wind up being C. trilineatus or C. acrensis. Both are extremely variable in spotting and reticulation. Hope this helps. - Frank

so if I am to understand that correctly, you're saying that julii cories wind up usually being a different family all together, that just has strikingly similar spotting?

because I just bought 2 julii's from my LFS and im wondering if they really are or not!

Hi. Unfortunately, that is correct. You can't really blame your lfs. All they can do is put the name that was on the export list, on the tank.

Unless you know the exact collection point on the exact river, it is hard to ID more than this Cory, alone. The C. elegans types, the C. imitator types, even C. aeneus - all have their own ID issues. - Frank
