feeding pygmy corys

i bought 6 pygmy corys about two months ago, and slowly 4 of them have died. (one was my fault...i dropped a rock on him when cleaning the tank...they are so small that it killed him instantly.....r.i.p little fella :(

the other three just sort of died of no real cause. no disease, no stress. i am beginning to think they just starved, cause i realized that i have never seen them eat very much. the two i have look healthy, and seem fine. i want to get more, so they feel more comfortable, but i want to make sure they will get plenty to eat.
the tank they are in now has 6 harlequinn rasboras and one male cherry barb (very docile male).

when i put flakes in the tank, the other fish eat them before any fall to the pygmys, so i began to break up 1-2 large sinking pellets in for them. is this enough food? is there something else i could feed them? they don't seem to like brine shrimp.

One food is not enough. I would try other brands as well that are designed for small bottom dwellers.

i need something small that will sink, so they can get to it. while browsing the "food" section at my LFS i saw that hikari makes a fry food that is supposed to sink. can i feed this to regular fish? or should i get some really small sinking pellets? there are so many types of food on market- it makes my head spin!

they don't seem to like veggies, or brine shrimp- and they can't get to the flakes fast enoug! my sinking pellets that i feed my betta are small enough, but i think they are too hard.

so what do you think about fry food?? its the right size, for sure.

You'll be okay with the fry food. Most foods intended for the fry are also fine for fish with very small mouths.

I've got spirulina sinking pellets by Ginger Aquatic Foods, which I love. They sink and get soft in the water so my corys can suck it up, without making the water dirty. You could also try some live worms. There are lots of small worms worth trying. They sink right to the bottom and the corys have a lot of fun chasing and sucking them right up! You could try Grindal worms, they are pretty tiny.

Good luck!
