soo in my 110gal I have a common pleco. hes only about 5.5" or so. when he was a wee guy in my 30 gal he would swim right out, chew up and suck down a sinking tropical wafer, and swim off. he was never really afraid of me at all.

now that I put him in my 110 he wont come out of his house at all, and im thinking the only thing he is eating is some crisps off the tank floor, and believe you me there isnt much done when the severums get done eating.

what do you guys feed your plecos that they actually seem to enjoy? I've tried various vegetables, wafers, flakes and crisps, but the wafers were the only thing he ate. Now, im 90% sure he isnt touching them at all!

How long has he been in there? He's probably still kind of wowed that he has a bigger home and getting used to it. Remember, they are nocturnal. So put one on each side take the one out that he hasn't fed on in the morning. If you keep feeding it in around the same place, he'll find the food.

My sev loves the algae wafers and would always snatch them up before the pleco could. So I started breaking them in half and placing each piece in different areas so the sev would enjoy one half and the pleco would get the other. But there would still be tussles sometimes because the sev would carry it around in his mouth and try to take the other piece also. He's such a pig!

Stick with the veg routine he will catch on.

place a piece of courgette (zuchini) near his favourite spot just before lights out, won't take him long to realise what it is.

Then you can feed earlier as he is used to what it is and will be more confident.

Can also give him a weekly/biweekly treat of a prawn or mussel, rubber band/tie it to a rock, they love it.
