Do Pleco's Do Good With Bricks?

OK, i made a cave out of 4 bricks that my pleco can fit in really well but.... i dont know if i should put it in the tank or not. i washed them real good with hot water, bleached them w/ a 1 to 8 solution of water and bleach and washed them for about 5 minutes each after that and you can smell any bleach on them is this safe to do?

10 gallon filled with fish
55 gallon waitng to cycle
Cichlids here i come!

Look at my tank Taylor's 55 Gallon Wonder under "Track My Tank"

I would have soaked the brick in a solution of water with dechlorinator.

I'm not familiar with brick material, but I would check the pH before you added the brick and also after, to make sure it does not change the pH of your water. Check the pH on a weekly basis.

I have seen zebra tanks full of bricks, they were spawning well. I would take eddies advice though, and if they smell of bleach dont use them! Soak them good and proper, boiling would help.

In the future, you might want to just boil them for about ten minutes.
Faster and more foolproof method of cleaning.
Plus it takes lees effort...I'm lazy.

Fish have taken over my house. I threw away my couch to make room for another 125 gallon.

Yea i would have boiled them too. When it comes to my tank i dont mess around with possibly introducing new chemicals. I boiled my flower pots.

Edit: and yes plecos do well with bricks! but im sure you have noticed by now lol.
