Do Glass Catfish really need to be kept in groups?

I was thinking of getting a glass cat for a new 10 gallon setup i have. While doing a little research on the fish I discovered that they apparently will stress out and die if not kept in a group of 5 or more. Is that really true? Will they be fine if I just get two?

They really do prefer to be in pretty large groups. I've heard it countless times, seen threads on this forum about these cats doing poorly in small groups or alone, and both Scotcat and Planet Catfish, which are pretty much my go-to places for catfish information, confirm that groups of six or more are best.

All schooling fish prefer to be in larger groups. Some, like barbs, will survive alone. Others like glass cats, will not.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

Thanks, I won't get one then. Just making sure before i actually went out and got one, I wouldn't want the poor guy to be miserable. Gets me thinking about setting up a 55 planted and getting a bunch of them for it, that would look awesome.
