Do corys whiskers regrow if damaged?

I just added a trio of cories to my tank (2 melanistius, 1 schwartzi). The poor lads were obviously not 'new stock'- they are adukt-sized, and were scattered through the tanks as 'cleaning crew' with all kind of fishes. They were active but stressed, and 2 of them have damaged whiskers. Now that they are in my much-more suitable tank, will their whiskers grow back?

Should ,with proper tank maint and fine smooth gravel or sand. I once kept six corys in discus tank with mediium sized gravel and noticed that they had to work much harder at getting food from between the pebbles and barbels,or whiskers, became worn down to nearly nubs. I then switched the substrate to sand ,and fish had much less trouble with finding food and barbels have grown back. It was a couple months before barbels became nearly what they were originally. Others have said that once barbels become worn down ,that it's easier for infections to affect this area. Keep the water changed regularly and nitrAtes low. IMHO

Wonderful, the tank is half sand, half fine gravel, so I'm pretty optimist about the regrowth! thanks!

They should regrow, but they might not grow back to their full pre-injury size.

They should grow back.

Corydoras scavenge by sifting sand through their gills and eating any edible piece offood. If they accidently get gravel stuck in their throat/gills, they cannot go to the surface to get air
