Corydoras habrosus in higher pH water?

My tank had a stable pH of 7.6. Is this too high for Corydoras habrosus? I would very slowly acclimate them. I need to find out the pH they are raised in from the supplier I would get them from. I was just wondering in the mean time if I can even consider them for my tank.

The hardness is as important as the pH, perhaps more-so. As noted in our profile, soft slightly acidic water is best long-term. This species also does much better over sand. I did not have good luck with them for years until I switched to sand.

I would expect this species to be wild caught. Do you know for certain that your store is acquiring tank-raised fish?

Byron.

I don't know but I'll ask. It's actually from a member of another forum. I know much of her stuff is imported but a lot is also raised by her. I'll find out for sure. I guess I did made it sound like she bred and raised them...I guess I should have said the pH of the water she keeps them in. I do need to get the hardness of my water...I keep meaning to call the water department. Is there an at home test for that? Anyways...I'll see what I can find. I have sand so I'm good as far as that is concerned. But if the pH is going to be an issue all the other stuff doesn't really matter I guess, as far as this particular fish is concerned at least.

It is such a nice little cory, don't give up yet. Get your water hardness numbers; you can buy a test kit, but don't waste your money, you'll use it once and never again (unless you are fiddling with the hardness). And ask her for the parameters of her water.
