Gone is the piece of wood with the little plant (let's just say I've already caught 2 snails), I have added another hideout, 4 Amazon Swords, 3 male Phantom Tetras (2 females coming tomorrow, boys), and an assassin snail for any additional hitchhikers...I don't think he'll hurt the fish, and he might grab scraps that the cories miss.
You can see by the photo that the tetras are near the bottom of the tank with the corys...1 under the coconut, and two on the bottom right. I bet if Byron were here he'd tell me that they are freaked and are under the plants where they feel safe
I'm on the lookout for plastic floating plants.
Oh, and I replaced the hydro sponge filter with an AquaClear HOB (needed the space for plants). I figure if anyone decides to spawn I can throw a prefilter sponge over the intake.
Any other ideas for improvement?
