Can someone I.D this catfish?

I was led to believe that these where Syno Catfish.
I Googled Syno catfish to make sure that they had a good habitat in my tank but most of the photos I found where of something very different. There where a few similar but they are all more 'spotty' than mine.

Pictures to follow . .

Thank you all,
Kelly

Not sure on the species, but does look like it's from the Synodontis genus. To me anyway.

I just read an article on featherfin catfish and it explains a lot, they are patterned like this when young and turn grey and spotty as they grow so no wonder most of the photos are of spotty ones!
Yes thats my red tailed shark, he's about 6" now. They like to hang out in the same places! That is also a third of a molly swimming into shot!! - everyone is out to spoil my picture!! :D

There are a lot of synodontis species, an you are right that the young ones have a different pattern than mature fish. Planetcatfish.com is a tremendous catfish resource - you can search by common name or scientific name, and they usually have pics of the fish at various ages to help with identifications.
BWG and dancelady like this.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

Was it purchased as, "Mixed Synodontis"? Check this link out:

The genus Synodontis

Possible a 'lace'?

They are carnivores so a high quality pellet will provide the protein they need.
