THe only plecs I've seen recently in Qc called Chinese/Hong Kong or Asian algae eaters are the Hill Stream loaches



I've never seen another type of catfish called a Chinese algae eater.

The Chinese Algae Eater is a cyprinid, so it's not a catfish. It does kinda suck on the walls though I think.

when you google "golden sucking catfish" you get both the CAE and a type of loach it seems. it's hard to know what he's got.

It looks exactly like that.

I found that it was chasing my platies and tetras I have in my tank this morning during feeding time. I removed it from the tank and my wife is currently trading it for a Bristlenose at the LFS we got it from.

ahh, fabulous. I got my bn pleco when he was tiny, and he sure has grown in the 4 months i had him!

i believe five or six inches is max, many stay around four inches
