Currently have a breeding pair of long finned albino bristlenose and fry. I believe the bristlenose should be of breeding age at around three to four inches, closer to four.
At this age ,it should be possible to sex them properly. Would place one male with possibly two females as two males might fight over turf and or breeding rights.
You can use large pieces of driftwood (what mine chose) .,pvc pipe just a little larger around than the fish, broken clay flowerpots, and or piles of large smoothc river stones to form caves.
Frequent regular, water changes are needed and these fish appreciate oxygen rich water. Foods can be vegetable matter, spirulina flake and or pellets, alage wafers, and occasional blood worms and perhaps brine shrimp.
Once you have determined a pair, I would srongly recommend placing them in a cycled, heated ,tank of at least twenty gallons with bare bottom. Is not necessary ,but makes things easier. The young fry will require constant source of foods such as those mentioned and leaving the fry in the tank such as I have done, makes it near impossible to vaccum the substrate without sucking up some little ones as well. Add to this the little ones need for constant source of food, and the 75 gallon tank that the adults and babies of mine are currently housed in,, and large almost three weekly water changes are needed to protect water quality.
Would be much easier in smaller ,bare bottom tank in my opinion. Hope some of this helps.
