Walmart Violet Goby

This poor thing I just couldn't let stay at Walmart, was rescued by my husband and I a few days ago. Its covered in ick (we are treating it) and has been eating bloodworms like a champ. I've never had to hand feed a fish, but its sorta neat :]

Wow he's a beauty! Poor thing tho :( I hope he recovers soon and that you have good luck with him.

I've got to say I'm kind of shocked that Walmart would have a fish that is pretty uncommon for a chain store. Hmmmm...

Walmart surprises me with the kind of fish they bring in. Last time I was at my local walmart, I saw they had a dragon goby, and I was blown away. Honestly hate walmart...not gonna lie.

I hate Walmart too, but I can't help but walk in the fish section and just look. They carry puffers and gobies but don't even put salt in the water. Their puffers always look so pitiful to me. I have 2 puffers (also walmart rescues) in the tank and they are such neat fish wth their own personalities. I just want to take some aquarium salt off the shelf and put it in those tanks :/

that dragon gobby needs to be in a brackish setup with a SG of around 1.004. They are offten found in freshwater and they will do best in brackish. They can live in fresh but for the health of the fish I would put him in brackish. The salt in the water will also help in treating the ick. They also prefer a sandy bottom. thats how they find there food. they are scavengers. they love alge and other stuff too. When I put a alge waffer in my tank he will grab it and chew on it. He reminds me of the cookie monster!!! Lots of luck I love the dragon gobies!!

sorry i re-looked at your picture and saw that it has a sandy bottom.

Grr... stop buying walmart fish. Every one you buy means another fish has to go through walmarts neglect. Also walmart is being rewarded for this horrible behavior at the same time. As painful as it is, walk away and let them die. If walmart stops making money off this behavior they will stop doing it.

I was also surprised to hear that a walmart in the state above me carries dragon gobies..It's not worth it to drive all that way for a fish I know is in poor health..can't risk doing that to my other fish...I'd rather buy online, I've wanted a dragon goby for about 4 years now...Best of luck to you!
