Some kid brought about 2 dozen guppies to our science class in a tiny vace. It's a quarter gallon at most. I actually don't even know if they're guppies, but they're small and white.
Well, they sat in the vace over a weekend, and when we came back none of them were dead, but the teacher was gone, they were all piled on the bottom, and the water was white with mucky stuff. I changed about half of the water, but I'm surprised they didn't float up dead right then because the tap water at the school is gross and the water pressure wasn't exactly gentle.
Still, none of them died and about 10 minutes later they started swimming around again, so I gave them some generic tropical fish flakes crushed up and they ate it. They still weren't dead half an hour later, so they're hearty little buggers.
Have they got a prayer? Our teacher came back yesterday and moved them into a beaker today, but is there anything I could do to help them not die? What should I do?
