noobish question

Hello, I'm sorry I'm such a noob with this question, I know I could have google it but if I ask it here I'll get a much better answer, so here it goes. What exactly is brackish water? I'm really not shure.

I believe that brackish water is normal water with a certain amount of salt added to it. the quantity of salt is not as much as in a salt water tank but it has some in it.

Yep, it's water that has a salinity level somewhere between fresh and full marine salinity, which is usually about 1.026 specific gravity. Brackish water occurs in nature where freshwater rivers flow into saltwater seas. The creatures that live here can usually tolerate a wide range of salinity, from fresh to full marine, but usually do best somewhere in between. Many brackish species spawn in freshwater and thus the young fish can survive in fresh water tanks but need saltier water as they grow. Common aquarium fish for brackish water are puffers like the figure eight and green spotted puffers, monos, scats, archerfish, gobies such as dragon gobies and knight gobies, mudskippers, and chromides.
