The best option, cost and ecologically, is to purchase some of the available mangrove seedlings and grow your own (very slowly...).
You can always purchase the resin fake mangrove roots and fill in with live. Remove the fake root ornament(s) as the live tree roots develop. Grow extras you can sell to other folks!
In Florida, you need a permit to even trim
the trees, depending on a variety of factors.
Ahhh dangit! I knew it was illegal to cut them in Florida, but I had no idea it was illegal to even trim them! I hate fake stuff in my tanks because it never looks nice to me, and growing them to the size I want would take YEARS. I think my dream of a natural looking brackish mangrove is never going to come true... ='(
You wouldn't happen to know of any other woods that would grow similarly that I could substitute for natural looking mangrove roots, would you?
