I have a 20 G FW that I am slowly transitioning to BW. Right now it houses two baby GSP's, one baby Columbian Shark, and will eventually house one baby Pleco. Thoughts on that combo? They will eventually live in a nice 75 G that I plan on setting up over the next few months, but for now, are they okay chilling out together in the 20 G? Right now it has some anubias, various swords, live sand, and some rock work. (I'll take the plants out to move to another tank if/when the salinity gets too high.)
The only time there is ever any aggression is when live food is introduced, and the puffers are trying to go for the same thing. (Though, I've seen them work together to bring down a crayfish and float away with full bellies.) They usually swim together, or sleep near each other. When I first introduced the Columbian Shark, they tried to nip at his tail, but soon realized he wasn't food, (plus, he was hella fast). They haven't touched him since. I don't plan on introducing the pleco until he is a little bigger than the puffers are, though I know it's always a risk adding an algae eater to a puffer tank.
I have a powerhead, one 30 G filter, and one 40 G filter in the tank, on top of my frequent 25-50% water changes once or twice a week, so bioload isn't much of an issue as it is.
So, thoughts? I'm willing to rehome, and I have plenty of tanks to tuck the Pleco and the Columbian into if I need to in a jiffy. I just love the diversity and personality of BW fish.
