Starting a cycle

I know in FW, when you have a new tank, in order to start a cycle you can add a pinch of food to the tank each day until you see the PH start to rise then you let it go until its done. Can this be done on a Saltwater tank. I am in no rush I am just curious.

No need to do it that way. You will be using Live Rock or a Macro Rock and a substrate that will start the cycle for you. You can also acclimate a FW Molly to SW, will take about 3-4 hours, and he will help in that area also, and is a very hardy fish that will survive the cycle. And they make a better tank mate than any Damsel does.
