setting up a qt

hey pasfur,

i remebered you had a post at one time about setting up a qt and how to nuture a fish to the main tank. do you remember where i can find the post?

i want to get a fire dwarf angel for a 29 tall and want to make sure it makes it to the main tank healthy. i remember vaguely about keeping the sg at 1.016 and using garlic enhanced food, if you can please advise.

thanks

Thanks bear.

By the way, for those who are interested, in the May/June issue of Coral Magazine, I have a few paragraphs on quarantine tanks. After reading the last issue I was frustrated with some comments made in the magazine, so I sent an email to the editor. He published my comments in this months edition, as a Letter to the Editor. If you look for it, the letter is titled "Quarantine? Yes!"

It was unexpected, but pretty cool to see when I opened my magazine yesterday.

two quick questions about the qt

should a lighting fixture be purchased or is regular light sufficent? should you let the qt somewhat cycle before adding new fish?

this is of course after the sponge filter siits on the LR for a few weeks.

according to what i have read a regular CFL should be fine in a clamp on fixture.... as for the qt cycle no you just add water off your DT and then the sponge and you are all set if you dont use your DT water newly made water is fine remember to alter the SG like the article says
