saltwater filter

Hello all!

I was thinking of starting a saltwater tank. I had originaly thought of doing a brackish and then decided to build my own canister filter. I have been posting my progress on the DIY threads and now have the filter completed, but bearwithfish recomened that I post my question here about the use of this type of canister filter will work for saltwater.

there is a link to my thread

DIY Canister filter

can someone please advise me. if this will not work for a SW setup then I will stick to fresh or brackish. I have too much time invested to not use it.

I would start with a decent amount of live rock and put some nice t5 lighting over the tank. Then get some expensive corals and some gorilla crabs to eat them. No wait...that's what *I* did and it didn't work out too well. :)

I tried to get him to build a trickle filter out of acrylic but he didn't listen to me. Using a prefilter to keep out the larger particulate matter and keeping the carbon chamber cleaned on a regular basis, you should do fine with this filter...providing you don't overload your tank and you monitor your water conditions. I'll give you some sand out of my tank and some starter to get the tank broken in faster.
